About SunRise Virtual Solutions…and it’s Proprietress, Jules
With over 20 years of diversified experience and professional skills, I am well qualified to meet the needs of business owners in almost every non-managerial aspect of their businesses and offer cost-effective assistance with non-managerial duties.
My areas of expertise include accounting/bookkeeping, administrative, web design and transcription. My targeted market is business owners that are adept at managing their businesses, but need extra help with the inter-office, non-managerial aspects of their business. I step in, virtually, to offer a helping hand.
I have been a full-charge bookkeeper for 20+ years working in various industries from my home office and a few on-site businesses – all as an independent contractor. Because I wanted to understand the “nuts and bolts” of accounting and be the best bookkeeper I could be, I went back to college in 1992 and majored in accounting. Gotta love those debits and credits!
I also enjoyed employee status as a full-charge bookkeeper, office manager, and administrative assistant in a corporate setting for 8 years. Being the full-charge bookkeeper was my main “job description.” In this corporate setting there were 85+ employees and four owners/corporate officers. During my tenure, I implemented a system using Microsoft Excel to accurately process 401(k) data and payments – no small feat with that many employees to track! This corporation had five locations; I was a very busy woman!
In a nutshell: A full-charge bookkeeper handles all the day-to-day Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Financials for a company. This includes, but is not limited to employee taxes, sales tax reporting, processing payments, and all other aspects of bookkeeping duties. Most full-charge bookkeepers compile the necessary reports for a business’s accountant (which is the case with me).
For the past 15 years, I have been a tax preparer and Electronic Return Originator (ERO), which enables me to e-file clients tax returns. To become an ERO I had to initially be fingerprinted at my local Sheriff’s office (the fingerprint card is sent to the government) – thank goodness there was no “mug shot” required
– with a full background check done (which is on-going each year).
I have been an active website designer for almost five years, after a hiatus of about eight years. With the college web design classes I attended back in the early 1990’s in mind, I was pleasantly surprised to see the vast improvements made over the years regarding web design. Because of these exciting changes I am committed to designing according to current W3C standards. I use (X)HTML and CSS to create new websites from scratch, or for redesigning existing sites. I also install and customizes forums, Joomla, Drupal, and WordPress sites. Not only do I do the coding behind the scenes, I also create the graphics for these sites. You can be assured of a unique and beautiful site when I am finished!
To round out my repertoire, I am also a general transcriptionist with all the necessary equipment needed to transcribe meetings, podcasts, one-on-one interviews, lectures, seminars, focus groups, and much more from digital audio files.
A little about me:
I have a very professional attitude toward my business, but what would life be without a sense of humor? I love to laugh and enjoy life, so besides my business, I enjoy doing things that make me smile. You will see my sense of humor interspersed within my site because I wanted my personality to also shine through.
I hail from Iowa, with its beautiful green countryside, family resort areas, and historic sites – where both Bridges of Madison County and Field of Dreams were filmed. Working off-site from my home office in Iowa is at the core of what being a virtual entrepreneur is all about.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my deep love, regard, and respect for animals, especially my three adorable kitties. I am a bit out of the ordinary for their care because I feed them a home-prepared, balanced raw diet – they eat healthier than I do.
One of my favorite websites, and the forum that accompanies it, is Holisticat, a natural, holistic, and homeopathic family of kitty lovers.
I am an avid book reader on varied topics; some business related to keep up with the changes in various industries and trends, and other books that I enjoy are related to true crime, forensics, and psychology.
For what it’s worth, even though I am a g-i-r-l, I even change the oil and do minor maintenance of my own vehicle in the summer months – during the freeze-your-behind-off cold Iowa winters, it’s off to my favorite mechanic.
Last, but certainly not least, I simply love having my own business and helping other business owners attain their desired business goals. When you love what you do it’s not work per se, but an enjoyable pleasure!
